Gastric By-Pass Surgery

The stomach is divided into two main parts, one rather small and the other large. The small stomach formed is joined to a section of the small intestine approximately 50–75 cm from the initial part. Due to the small stomach size (30-50 cc) created by this surgery, it is aimed to reduce the volume of food taken.

Sleeve Surgery

This surgery is usually performed with a closed (laparoscopic) method. During this surgery, approximately 70-80% of the stomach is removed and the stomach volume is reduced. With the shrinkage of the stomach, the volume of food taken decreases and the hormone secretion that triggers the feeling of hunger, which is secreted in the removed area of the stomach, decreases and a feeling of satiety occurs with a small amount of food intake.

Gastric Balloon

Gastric balloon is a synthetic balloon that is placed into the stomach by endoscopic means and can be filled with liquid or air. This application is based on the principle of reducing stomach capacity, not by reducing the stomach volume, but by creating an area that does not have a digestive function. It can be used for a period of six months or one year and is removed endoscopically at the end of this period.

Gastric balloon does not require hospitalisation.
