Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery (HPB System Surgery)

It is a system comprised of liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile ducts.

Some examples include liver diseases, benign and malignant tumours of the liver, liver cysts, liver haemangiomas, liver abscesses and other lesions of the liver, benign pancreatic diseases, pancreatic cysts, pancreatic cancer, and neuroendocrine tumours involving the pancreas, gallstones, bile duct problems including strictures, obstructions, and tumours.

In addition to non-invasive diagnostic tests like abdominal x-ray, abdominal USG, or abdominal CT/MR, endoscopy is usually required. Laparoscopic procedures may be needed.

Usually endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures or surgeries can be used for both diagnosis and treatment. Certain conditions require open surgeries.
